Upgrade Hayward Super to AO Smith Dual Speed

Need some advice please. My 10 year old Hayward super pump going bad (loud & leaking at bottom). I would like to replace with AO Smith Dual Speed per suggestion on another thread by Jason Lion. But... wondering if this is a job I can do myself.
Current plumbing appears to be 1-1/2. Straight 22k vinyl inground pool no heater or waterfalls etc. Will try to post pics of the pump...I do have disconnects on plumbing to easily remove pump and filter housing if needed. Afraid that I will also need to swap out plumbing for 2"...uggh. Thoughts?

You should be able to remove the motor without removing any of the plumbing assuming there is enough room at the back of the motor. Not too hard if you are mechanically inclined.
