Maintaining target FC level

I am in Austin and its insanely hot and sunny everyday. I am losing 4ish ppm per day and looking for suggestions on the best method to maintain my target FC level of 7-8. If I add bleach in evening should I go up to 10 and let it drop to 6ish during the day or is there a better method that does not involved multiple additions per day?

Can you provide your latest water test results? Do you have one of the recommended test kits?

Yes, I have the proper test kit. Last night they were:

FC: 5.5
CC: 0
CYA: 65
TA: 90
PH: 7.6

Do you mean to say that your "target" is 7 ppm of CL, or that your minimum is 7?

If your target is 7, that puts your minimum around 5. So I see no problem going up to 10 at sundown and dropping down to 6 by the next afternoon. The first few ppm you will lose faster, e.g. you will drop from 10 down to 7 faster than from 7 down to 5, as the higher you go over the target, the more CL is exposed to UV.

If you do not suspect algae in the water, then you just need to target higher so your do not drop below the minimum for your CYA level.

For a 65ppm CYA, your minimum is 5ppm, so I would target 10ppm to be sure it does not drop below 5ppm. Maybe Perform the Overnight Chlorine Loss Test to be sure nothing is in the water.
