can you filter your water too much? i have a cheap intex pool 16x48 round and i have 3/4 horsepower and a nice cartridge filter Pool Store tells me it would be 3400 gallons an hour roughly I think I only have about 5500 gallons of water toal i run my pump 24 7 water is good just need to know if u can filter it to much lol

The answer is no. But you are wasting a lot of money on electricity by running that much.

I agree with jblizzle, 24/7 is a waste of money for normal circumstances. If you are SLAMming, then it's a different ballgame. When we are not in the pool, I run mine about 5 hours a night after I pour some chlorine. When we are in the pool the pump is running all the time and when we are done swimming I pour some chlorine and let it run for another 3 hours.
