The stenner tube in my Pentair Intelliph acid injector developed a hole after just 4 months of use and I'm wondering why it failed prematurely since the previous tube lasted 16 months. I have been periodically lubricating the stenner tube with WD40 brand silicon spray and I'm wondering if that could have degraded the tubing. The Intelliph owners manual recommends cleaning the pump rollers with a non-citrus cleaner, but there's no mention of lubrication. Should I avoid lubricating the tube from now on?

That WD-40 whie being silicone probably has some propellants that attack the santoprene tubing, and that probably contributed to the shortened life.
