Just had inground pool installed and we had the PB over tonight to explain how everything works. He advised to leave the pump on 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. It is a Hayward Superpump 1HP for a 16 X 32 salt pool. I have friends that only run their pump about 12 hours per day. Can someone give me the scoop on pumping. Thanks.

If this is a brand new plaster pool, you should leave the pump running 24/7 for the first few weeks.

With vinyl there is no need to keep the pump running all the time. Go ahead and cut it back to 12 hours a day and then adjust from there as described in the article I mentioned last time.
