how much Bleach?

I've been reading this thread with interest, because I'm currently purposely lowering my CYA level, and I was thinking the OP's CYA was just about optimal at 35. Am I wrong? If the OP's CYA was more like 50 would they still be having the same problems?

Just trying to get a grip on CYA...

Thanks,
Dave

CYA around 50 is good this time of year. That gives you some room for it to come down over the season without having to add more. CYA at 35 is fine as well, but will pobably go below 30 and need to be raised before the end of the season.

The current high chlorine demand is being caused by something organic in the water, possibly ammonia. Any reasonable CYA level will have no effect on that process.
