She's been out of action for the last week after a scooter accident messed up her elbow some. Went to a specialist today who ordered a MRI to be done as he see's some warning signs on the X-Ray's. Yet another ten days of 90° weather and very limited pool action for this little one. Her sister however has been very supportive during all of this.........right up until the time she yelled "Cannon Ball!!!"

When I was a kid, I had a cast (The old plaster type... heavy, and HOT). It went from my waist, around my body, crossed under my right arm, (it looked like a waist length toga) and my left arm was set in a position that made it look like I always had my hand raised in class with the cast going all the way up the arm to my finger tips. The accident happened the 1st day of summer vacation. I went through 3 surgeries. By the start of school in the fall, I was wearing the more common type of cast (from the shoulder to my finger tips). I was in a cast of one sort or another until just before Christmas that year.

MAN, that was a HOT summer!

I feel for her, and hope it all turns out ok.

We are able to get this somewhat wet but she still can't "swim" at all. Instead she's been sidelined to the shallow end forced to wade around doing a bunch of nothing. The X-ray's show some damage but the doctor isn't sure just how much yet. We go back next week for a MRI to see just how long her sentence is for. :(

RonsPlc......
That cast had to stink by the time you got out of it! Everybody in the room yesterday when we first took off her old splint all said the same thing at once.....ewwwwwwww. :D

Awe so sorry to hear she busted her elbow. That's got to be painful!

Well, after another X-Ray and a MRI it turns out she got lucky. She's "only" got a surface crack in her arm. While it sucks, it's better than a break I guess. Doctor still has her in a hard brace but has unlocked it so she has full movement now. Also gave us the thumbs up to do very limited swimming as long as we avoid diving in.

Sucks, but it's better than the other options I guess.

Considering the alternative it is great news! She'll have a few weeks of decreased activity and then back to normal once the doctor gives the ok. Its a good thing there was no damage to the growth plate. It sure beats when i came down with mumps the first day of summer vacation! Kids don't get mumps anymore, so she doesn't know how lucky she is!
