Still battling algae grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

So, I'm still battling algae. I thought I was finished, was going to vacuum tonight and be done and clear, but the stuff on the bottom that I thought was dead was not. It barely came up with the vacuum. I had to scrub, and I mean scrub hard, to get this stuff up. And when I did, it became these dark green, almost black pieces of nastiness floating in the water. Now I have a pool full of that junk. Back to slamming I go! Has anyone else ever seen algae like that?

Uh-oh, sounds like you might have the dreaded black algae.

Well, good news is that today when I scrubbed it, it was a brown cloud instead of black flakes!

That freaked me out last night, and I dumped 10 bottles of bleach in last night and two this afternoon.

I just tested:

FC 20
CC .5
CYA 30
pH 7.5

With a CYA of 30, your slam level is 12. Going too much over is not worth it both for your wallet and the liner. But no worries. You got this!

yeah, I know. I just kind of freaked out at the nastiness. LOL I think I have effectively killed it.ha!

Hahaha! Luckily I can get 12.5% at a pool store for $2.50 a gallon. No nasty looks!
