Remodel Intex skimmer?

Since I am in Texas and we have wild temp swings, the ring on my easy set changes size at least twice a day. Any time I turn the sand filter on, if I'm not standing there, the skimmer pops up and sucks air. tired of purging air. I'm also concerned about burning up filter. Right now I have a 5 lb weight tied to the outer bucket with a length of trot line. I would love to have a floating skimmer but can't afford one. Any ideas on how to engineer from bits and pieces?

I seem to recall someone else having this problem a year ago. They built an external stand from PVC that held the skimmer. You might search for that here, or see if you can come up with something similar on your own.

Unless you have an Intex pool, the skimmer will not fit on the stock strainer. I had to manufacture an adapter.

I think this has given me an idea. I'm going to try to make "a boat" for the skimmer from PVC. Will post pics and supply list, if successful. ?

The idea was to make a float for the skimmer. Just couldn't get it to balance.
Back to trot line and barbell weight.
