The other day I noticed that there was a small amount of water leaking from the wall skimmer on my above ground pool. The hairline crack is about 1 1/4" long and runs vertically in the center of the outside portion of the skimmer. The skimmer is not exactly old, I think I replaced it about 4 years ago.

I'd prefer to replace the entire skimmer at the end of the season when I close the pool, but is it possible to fix the leak for a few months?

What is the best method and product to use?

Silicone RTV. Get the clear stuff, wipe it on thin and no one'll ever know. The skimmer isn't under pressure, so you can do it and call it a completed repair, no new skimmer necessary.

Better yet get a small tube of white 3M 5200 marine sealant. It will cure even when wet and is designed to be used under the waterline of a boat. Use a latex/nitrle glove when you apply it. It wont come off your skin without acetone or a similar solvent.
