I was born in Rio, Brazil, came to the US for grad school in Michigan, where I met my husband. Now we live in Tennessee and teach at the university. I'm an animal lover and volunteer with Rat Terrier rescue. When we were looking for a house, I had two stipulations: no pool and no large yard, with lots of grass to mow. Well, we have a pool and three acres, with snakes, voles, moles, four resident hawks, deer, turtles and tones of frogs. We even had a beehive in the roof that required us to hire a professional to remove it. We live in the sticks and last year I removed a snake from my closet.
