CYA Question

I need to get my CYA up a little and was going to use some granular stuff from wallyword but.... I tried premixing a little in a bucket prior to putting in the pool and ended up with "milk" with lots of sediment in the bottom. I did not put it in the pool because that stuff doesn't seem like it will fully disolve. I read somewhere to put it in a sock and hang it by the intake. Will it cloud the water?
What is the best way to increase CYA?

The best way is to do as recommended here: Pool School - Recommended Pool Chemicals

In a sock, in front of a return or in the skimmer with pump running until dissolved. Will dissolve faster in warmer water and if you squeeze the sock periodically.

Thanks JVTrain. Thats where I read the sock method. Does the sock keep it from clouding the water? I am really aprehensive about putting it in my pool after the premix I did in a bucket. My logic tells me it will cloud the water but I am super new at this and learning every day.

I just added using the sock method yesterday. When you squeeze the sock you can see a cloud come out of it, but it never made my pool cloudy at all.
