I would like to recommend a phosphate/nitrate article for pool school. a three line blurb that says phosphates don't matter and this is why would be great. seems like a lot of people are asking about it. they don't test for it around my area, but apparently a lot of places do.

There are many places, other than fertilizer, that phosphates can come from. Some people have phosphates in their tap water, and there are phosphates in some pool chemicals. There are relatively few places nitrates can come from, fertilizer is probably the most common, but there are other possibilities.

Yes, there should be some mention of phosphates for sure. Nitrates are not commonly tested for, and hardly anyone needs to worry about them, so including them isn't so clear cut.
