Hi everyone! We r planning on adding DE to our sand filter today. But we are confused regarding the PSI. Wouldn't adding the DE, and catching more debris, cause the PSI to go lower, not go up?

As the filter gets dirty, it is harder for the pump to push water through it, therefor the pressure gage on the filter will go up and the flow from the returns goes down. Instead of thinking of the gage as a "Pressure" gage, think of it as a "Resistance to flow" gage.
