Filtered or Not for Waterfall

Have one of those aluminum ornamental windmills mounted and anchored to concrete pool deck just for looks. Idea is to run some pvc over and up it then over the pool to create a "waterfall" effect over the water. Think I've got it all figured out-wont need seperate pump as the pool pump has nothing else on it but the pool, and the gpm of the waterfall will be minimal. Question is, is it better to run unfiltered water back to the pool for the waterfall or filtered or does it not really matter?

It should be filtered water. If for no reason other than to keep your waterfall clean of debris.

Generally you want to run an additional return over to the waterfall controlled by a jandy valve. You can set the jandy valve so it opens to the proper volume.
