New SWG and adding salt

I'm in the process of installing my SWG. I'm about to go and buy the salt, Home depot I guess, and was wondering how to add it....Just dump it all in, brushing it around now and then. Or add it 1 bag at a time. How long does the salt take to dissolve.....

I dump it in the deep end and brush it to the main drains. It doesn't take a long time to dissolve. Moving it around helps. Make sure you get the salt with no additives.
I do a couple of bags at a time.

Yep, I put it in the deep end and brush it...you probably want to use the pool calculator (link below) to figure a starting estimate for how much salt you need. Go a little low at first (maybe a bag or two below recommended), then give it at least 24 hours before you add more. Using salt test strips is good, but I've also noticed that my SWG needs a day or two to 'realize' that I've added enough salt, so the light may show "Low" for a day after I add the salt, then change to "Good."

Be sure to test your current salt level before you calculate your dosage, often pools already have a salt level and if you don't account for that you could end up too high.
