1 gal is $4.98 and 15 gal carboys are $60.15 + $35 for the refillable container deposit. How does this compare to what some of you are paying?

$11.99 for a 5 gal 12.5% returnable container with an $8 deposit per container. I usually pick up 2 or 3 and store in a cool shaded location.

2.5 gallon refills (10.5% around here) are $4.25, up from 2.49 in 2006, but down from 4.50 (leslies was 4.50 but now they're down to 4.25 as is pinch a penny). you can almost always get them buy 2 get 1 free, plus there's the punchcard that gives you one free after 10 refills.

My local Leslie's doesn't carry liquid chlorine either. They said its a dangerous chemical. 
When I mentioned the fact that it was the same as bleach I was told that they are different and that adding bleach from the grocery store is bad for the pool. I just smiled and left it at that.

it is a dangerous chemical...but so are lots of things that are readily available (do they sell muriatic acid? take a whiff of that one time...)

Thanks for all the input on this topic - I'll keep looking and maybe I'll find some reasonable for the season. If not - I'll keep using the 96 ouncers from the store.
The cheapest I've found is $3.99/gal for 12.5% and $16.95 for the 5 gal carbouy with a $6 dep. Found at branch brook/namco.
$16.99 for 5 gallon carboy of 12.5% at my local Namco in RI. I'm still trying to figure out if that's cheaper than BJ's wholesale. wally's or Aldi. I guess if I can find 6% bleach for less than $1.70gal I'm good right? My math has always been shoddy

1.70/(128x.06) = .221 per oz so the carboy is cheaper. You'd need to find 6% at under $1.63/gal to be cheaper.
Where I am, a nearby Lucky grocery store has 2gal 10% for 6.99 (.273/oz hypo).
The Pool Guys in Saratoga sells a 4-gal case of 12.5% for 16.60 (works out about the same) plus a $5 deposit. They currently have a 2-for-1 deal, which is .138/oz hypo!

Just bought a 5 gal container for $18.99 outside Philadelphia. $7 deposit too. What's that about 3.80 a gallon? I might need to shop around a little bit.
Utica NY area it is $14.99 for 5 gal of 12.5% It went up a dollar this spring. I see WalMart is selling 10% gals again. I didn't look at the price.
