Crystal Care Clarifier--what is it?

My husband bought some Crystal Care Clarifier at Academy. There are no ingedients on the bottle. What does it do and does it work?

I've never used it, we don't recommend them...but I think I recall that they sort of glue particles together so they remain in your filter. I seem to recall they can really do a number and mess up a filter too.
