Testing Heater

I picked up a used Minimax CH heater and want to try to test it before doing a full hard plumb install. Its hooked up to the gas line and so far the pilot light has stayed lit. I was thinking of running water from a garden hose through it. I just want to see if it will fire up.

Any suggestions ?

The heater will not fire up unless the flow sensor detects sufficient flow. It will probably be difficult to get enough water flow to satisfy the flow sensor.
