Floor drains have algae below the grate

My floor drains have 3 screws holding the cover on. Can I remove these screws during normal operation and scrub this algae with a tooth brush?

Sure.

Is there flow going through the floor drains? Algae would point to stagnation if you are maintaining normal adequate FC levels for your CYA level.

I always have the drains open and my last FC was 6 and my cya is about 60ish

6ppm is the minimum for a CYA of 60ppm, you should be keeping it higher ... unless you have a SWG ... but there is no way for me to know that since your signature is blank

Wait, your sig is in the first post, but not the 2nd ... weird.

So 6ppm should be fine with the SWG.

No worries, and thanks, I wasn't sure if taking the covers off the drain created a leak or something worse.

Oh ... hmmmm ... I would assume you can take a cover off the vinyl floor drain and not lose the seal. But I am not sure of their design, so I would wait for others with knowledge to confirm.
