Skimmer Pipe Replacement - Do it yourself?

Hi,

I have an in ground pool. I need to replace my skimmer line. The skimmer itself is intact and functional. The pipe is clogged and not repairable. Can I safely dig up the line right up to the skimmer without the skimmer/pool wall falling in? I have a liner and heavy fiberglass? walls.

What would I expect to encounter? I heard the skimmer might be sitting in some crushed stone.

Thanks,

-Matt

You can safely do this yourself. Just don't over do it on the width of the channel you dig you get there. There should be drainage stone material around the skimmer such as gravel or crushed stone immediately around the skimmer.
