At a minimum, you'll need 1 telescopic pole, 1 plastic bristled pool brush and 1 skimmer net or leaf rake. I never use my skimmer net, always my leaf rake, even for skimming the pool. Some people prefer to have a skimmer net though. A manual vacuum head can be helpful to have around as well, but I rarely use mine as I have a robot that does a pretty good job.
