does polyquat 60 raise pH?

I have been doing everything just as I always have. My pH has been pretty consistent. There was a big rain last night and today. I drained some out and checked the chemicals. My CL as still at 11, but my pH was over 8. I added the drops for the acid demand test and just don't think something is right. I added about 2-3 drops at a time and then mixed. The color changed to purple and then as I got to 35 drops, the color changed to yellow (low pH). There was never the pinkish orange (or however you would describe the color of 7.6)

Before I did anything, I wanted to ask opinions. I added the polyquat about an hour before i did the test.

Polyquat will not have a significant effect on the PH, though it might raise it just a little.

If you post a full set of water test results we might be able to figure out what is happening.

Hum, nothing there stands out.

Rain can raise the PH, though not usually dramatically. If it was a major storm then it was probably the rain.

ok then, I'll just get out the MA and low it a little. I think start with about 12 oz. and then check it again.

Should I lower the pH to 7.4 or 7.6?

I would aim for a PH of 7.4 or 7.5.

Go with the 7.4 to give you some cusion while you are gone, then if it raises a bit while you're away you should still be okay.
