Difference btwn new/old models of Aquarite & vendor question

I just received an aquarite XL 40K from poolpartsonline, with "XL" apparently indicating the inclusion of the wiring kit:

Later, I see that they also sell "Aquarite 2009", wherein you select the chlorine generator System, Turbo cell, and accesories. If you add the parts I got at the link above for 899$, the total is 1160$.

The only difference I see is the specification of firmware version 1.5 for the newer model and a new pic inside the controller box.

What gives?
