Digging out?

OK so i was curious because i have seen people bury their AGP. My question is , I had to dig out about 14inches on one side of my new build, can i put sand back next to it to level off the ground again and then can i put mulch on top of the for landscaping purposes?

I have seen people do that too. One thing you might have to consider is the safety distance required from the ledge to the surrounding ground if you don't have a safety fence around the top ledge of the pool. In my hometown, it is required to have 48" minimum radius distance from the outside edge of the top ledge to any ground or other surface that a child can reach from.

I don't know if filling any material next to the pool surface will shorten the life of the pool.
