coping face broke off

until i get around to replacing the coping can I patch the crack with silicone? or cement patch?
the pool/coping is at least 7 yrs old. probably 20 yrs, it came with the home
the broken piece on the bottom came off in one piece

Because your plaster is looking OK those are probably caused by deck movement. Its hard to tell. I would be using some mortar. Silicone or Other plastic based caulks will be temporary.

I would use liquid nails on that, a special formulated for masonry Epoxy.

it's an indwelling pool surrounded by a concrete patio
movement could be possible. the ground here is very soft/shifting and sink holes are all over the place

i'm going to try the liquid nails
