Equipment Bonding /Grounding

I just noticed that my pool heater, installed about three years ago has no 8 AWG copper bonding attached to it's lug. A bonding wire exists and runs and connects to the three pumps but it just ends at the last pump. I assume I should extent that copper wire to the heater. Is there any reason why the installer would not have extended it and attached it to the heater lug. If I extent the wire to the heater lug, does the wire just dead end there or should it run back to the ground rod (i.e. loop back)

Welcome to TFP!

Bonding does not go to a ground rod. Just extend the #8 from the last pump using the proper split nut connector.

Tim's info is good. The reason the installer did not do it is most of them don't understand the need for it
