Fellow TFPers! I've been struggling all spring to keep algae off my pool walls. Have done a couple of SLAMs which helped temporarily, but take my eyes off the ball for a bit and it's back with a vengeance. I've been a bit delinquent on my end too, but seems like I need a Grand SLAM to get it back in shape for the summer.
Here's where the pool chemistry is at the moment:
pH: 8.2
FC: 0
CYA: 20
TA: 60
What would be the best sequence to bring the pool back in line? I'm confused about whether to adjust pH first, or TA, or CYA before proceeding with the SLAM.
Also, I'm planning to clean the DE filter elements and recharge with fresh DE, as well as clean behind the lamps on this SLAM to prevent a recurrence. Should I do this before or after the SLAM?
Also, the pool walls have a light yellow / green coat. Would be safe to assume mustard algae and treat accordingly?
