Pump keeps flipping GFCI on chord when plugged into timer.

I recently put up a best way above ground pool and the manufacture told me to only run the pump for about 8 hours instead of 24/7 like the bigger pools do, but my issue is I put a timer on it but the GFCI on the pump chord keeps flipping every time the timer shuts off the pump so I have to go back out and reset it every time. Is there a timer that will work with without flipping the GFCI every time. Thanks

the GFI is protecting the pump because it is sensing the power being shut off.. it is working exactly like it should... some timers do this and I think it is the way the power is shut off..

That is the exact one I tried and did not work so I sent it back. There was something on this site that explained that I woul have to cut off the end of the cord that has the gfci and put regular end on it then put in a GFCI plug before the timer and that would work but don't know for sure.

ahhh, I have heard that... I figured that timer was your best bet as intermatic are the leaders in timers..

Here is a post about taking the GFCI off but it will still need to be plugged into a GFCI plug to be safe..
