Help !!! pool pump

I have a saltwater pool i took the salt cell off ti clean it and put everything is installed correctly start my pump back up and it started surging and make a noise like it was struggling my pump stays primed so i disconnected the discharge and it ran fine put sounded good running smooth when i put salt cell back it there it goes again back to surging or pulsating like it has a restriction on the return I DON'T KNOW ! I tild the wife lets fill it in with concrete and build a basketball court "not really" please someone help or advice

if so, try turning it around... if not can you post a picture of your setup

Sounds like a blockage in the cell or a backwards check valve. Try pouring water through the cell in the direction of flow and see what happens

Is there enough water in your pool? The surging sounds like your water is too low and it is sucking in air at the skimmer. Filling your pool up a little higher will stop that.
