Rainwater Tank

Question for you more knowledgable pool experts....

We have 2 (soon to be 3) rainwater tanks on our property. We use a pump and fill the spa every 3 months from the accumulated rainwater. My question is, should we be doing anything with the rainwater while its sitting in the tank?

My partner suggested throwing some bleach in there to stop any potential algae, as the inside of the tank doesn't look the loveliest. But I don't really want to have to keep up a maintenance schedule for a rainwater tank.

Are the tanks opaque? If they are then no worries.

Yeah, they're a tan coloured though. So they let light through. Just not direct sunlight. There is a mesh area at the top that the drains pour into, and that's open to small amounts of sunlight.

Is the outlet at the very bottom, or is there room below for sediment to collect?

If there's a couple inches below the outlet, just give the tank a blast of bleach a day or two before you empty it. Any algae will get killed and settle out.
