Help with a skimmer door problem

I inherited the pool when I bought the house. I have no ideal what the brand is. The problem is the skimmer door. It doesn't have pins. The pins are on the skimmer and the door snaps into the pins. The problem is when we a swimming in the pool the door comes off. Which in turns all the dead bugs go back into the pool. I bought a new door last summer, and It worked ok for that summer. I don't want to buy a new skimmer door every year. I'm also worried that the pins are worn out so that's why it doesn't stay on as good as it used to. Does anybody have any suggestions on what I can do to make the door have a more secure fit on the pins?

I think I found a solution. I trimmed it a little on the sides and put it in upsid down so instead of pushing it down on the pins I put it under the pins. It was a pain to do but it won't fall off now (I hope).
