How to replace Hayward C1200 Filter Cartridge Handle?

Does anyone know how to take the handle off and replace with a new handle? I put a new cartridge in today and the top won't tighten enough to hold and I need to replace the top handle. Ordered the replacement parts but not sure how to replace.
