Hello,
My wife and I just purchased our first home which included a pool. Considering opening season is upon us, I set out for some resources on keeping my pool clean and beautiful and stumbled here. I'm very excited to get started and have been looking around for a little bit, gaining more information.

ETA: The previous owner had left some equipment behind, including some chemicals. I noticed he had a Pool Frog cartridge, as well as a New Water Cycler 100 Series. From what I read the Pool Frog is pretty much trash, any reason to keep the New Water Cycler?

Welcome to the forum.

What is it? What is it supposed to do?

From my researching/understanding, it is an automatic Chlorine dispenser that takes 'cartridges' filled with chlorine tablets. I believe the previous owner was using the "Pool Frog" cartridges in it. But the more I read the Pool School threads, the more I think it's just a needless piece of equipment.
