SAm Light Ring Leaking; Stripped Screw

After suffering mysterious water loss, we found it leaking at the light ring from a stripped screw. we used some window caulking strip to temporarily stop it last season but it's not a permanent fix.

Would replacing with a larger SS screw (same length) be the proper fix?

Welcome to TFP!!

When I've run into this problem, the first thing I do is wrap the screw with ~ 6 layers of teflon tape - this works ~ 50% of the time. If the teflon tape doesn't work, I use a slightly larger screw or one with more threads

Thanks for the reply. I will try the tape first. I assume I need to get enough bite to hold seal in place?

Yes, you need to have the screw 'bite' enough to keep the pressure on the faceplate so it seals
