Hello everyone, i have been reading the forums and tracking all the pool builds and all of the other goodies of information these forums have provided. I wanted to go ahead and share our story and pool build with everyone.

We interviewed about 8 companies, got 8 different designs and 8 different quotes before deciding on our pool vendor. We had a decent space to work with, not huge but not small. We knew we wanted plenty of room to entertain and we knew we wanted to get a SPA. We also decided on Gas for heating the spa as we knew that one of our main reason for getting the spa would be becuase we wanted to use it in the Winter time as well and even in North Florida it can dip into the mid to upper 30's and we wanted to be able to heat and go, not wait and we didnt want the huge cost of getting one of the icebreaker units.. ( i think thats what there called )

We went with Pentair Products, i dont have the model Numbers with me specifically but will update the post accordingly.

Here are the Main Options we went with

Equiptment:
Pentair inteliflo 3hp variable speed pump
Pentair clean and clear filtrer
intelinright color changeing led
Pentair no lube 3 way valve system
Pentair IC40 salt system
Pentair easy touch 4 function wireless home automation
Pentair 400K BTU gas heater

Pavers are the Mega Olde Town in Sand Dune
CLI Pebble Tek / Majestic Isle

Signed the Contract and Deposit on March 8th, i think the normal sales pitch is 6-8 weeks.....

Everything was going great in the beginning, things moved at a relatively good pace. Communication seemed ok but im a planner...logistics is key for me as well as communication. There is never too much communication and there was never enough.. Will go days in not a week with no communication. There have been bumps along the road, that we have had to sort out, there was a 3 week period where there was no work completed at all, there was a mishap on someones end with our tile. We kept asking for delivery information and they kept saying it would be here... the problem was no-one ever called the vendor..... The vendor never ordered it. After it was ordered now we are finding out that there wasn't enough ordered, and here is where we wait....

Currently The Remaining Tile is scheduled to be here on this Friday. 5/13.
Current Schedule from PB:
Thursday 5/12 Electrician
Friday 5/13 Finish Tile in Spa and Start Coping
Monday 5/16 Pavers are supposed to start
Tuesday 5/17 We are going to have the New Fence Installed ( May move this up to Wednesday )

Now the Goods......

OH Yeah! Another FL pool AND one close enough for me to get to! LOL

8??? WOW! I wonder if there are even 8 builders here in T-town? To tell you the truth I have NO idea of AMY builders here in town LOL Never saw the need to look.

How sad that even after talking to 8 and THINKING you picked a good one you have still had problems :( Goes to show you just never know how they will REALLY be to work with.

Keep sharing pics please!

the more i read on here the more i feel that the lack of communication is all to common, your given names of your foreman, your superintendent in charge of the project etc... Sometimes i will go days after emailing or texting with no response. I finally had to go up to the office after that 3 week period and raise cain. i hated to do that, but after no-one showing up on the scheduled days to work on then lied to about materials...

for some reason its not letting me upload more pics.. says im out of space or something similar. will try later.

You can become a supporting member (see to right hand side for link) to get more storage space and help us keep the lights on AND you will get a discount on the test kit you will need as most PB's kits do not have all the tests you will need. You can also link to Photo bucket using the img code but if photo bucket ever goes away your pics will go away also.

But WHY? why would you want to know who is coming to YOUR house to work on YOUR pool that YOU are paying SO much money for?????? (sorry just had to get that out)

Done, mine as well be a supporter, seems to be a great group of people here with a serious wealth of knowledge...

Still looking over the Pool School Stuff, trying to get a handle on it all before we start putting water in.... Im assuming the TF-100 is the ideal kit to get? I will need to continue to read and study to see what all i will need.

yea, no kidding.....i know i can be a little OCD, but to me, a Company like this should have LOGISTICS mastered....just sayin

LOVE the pretty badge by your name! THANKS!

I have something for you. This is what I share with each new pool:

Here are some links you will need when you are starting up a pool.

Print these out:
Pool School - Basic Pool Care Schedule

Pool School - Recommended Levels

Bookmark these:
Pool School - Recommended Pool Chemicals

http://www.troublefreepool.com/calc.html

Pool School - ABCs of Pool Water Chemistry

Make sure to ask any and all questions you might have no matter how small! We have all been where you are at one point.

Here is another link that TFP did BUT you MUST talk to your PB about what is said in here as HE is the one holding the warranty card and we do NOT want to mess that up.

Most PB are not used to people who are able and willing to take care of their own pool. BUT we have found that once they see the test kit and that you have learned the ABCs of pool care they may let you do your thing with the levels.

LOL You are going to fit in around here just fine! :joker:

That is a LOT of work done! Love the "tada" pic in the back of the truck!

Please go ahead and ask you PB what test kit he will be giving you if any. Let us know what it is so we can tell you what to buy to supplement or replace it with.

Things are moving again. Was told that the lost box of tile we need has arrived and may be sending someone out this afternoon possibly to wrap up before the coping tomorrow.

Electricians were on site setting up everything on the wireless home automation system along with wiring the color LED's up.

Hello from Central Florida. We're a few Counties apart.

Your pool is progressing nicely and looks great. You have caught up to me quickly and mine started about 2 months ago.
I also went through 8 PBs, signing on the one (a Ma& Pa PB) I thought would be best based on reputation.
Things have changed as they're taking on more jobs and are spreading themselves thin.

Right now waiting on Pavers, then Screened Cage can be installed and finally it can get Plastered. All these use Subs so maybe things will speed up.

New Pool - Orlando Florida

Gas installed and new fencing going in today, hopefully coping and pavers Monday/Tuesday.. I would assume it would take them 2 days for coping and pavers
