Does anyone have experience with using a solar cover during the day to minimize the loss of FC?

Hi Ray- yes in my experience they work a treat when your trying to minimise your FC loss especially in the middle of summer. They definitely make a big difference.
I have also noticed my CC tick up a bit when I am diligently using the cover. never more than .5, but without the cover I almost never have any. I think the sunlight gets more of a chance to burn it off without the cover.

I'd think that using a cover in TX during the summer, during the day, would produce uncomfortably hot water for swimming. An algae-free pool with a CYA level of 60-70 in TX would not use an terribly high level of FC daily. I'd be interested in looking at the bigger picture - though I see you also have a thread about CYA going. Often helps to keep the conversations in one thread because many times things are inter-related, even if they don't seem so at first.
