New (or soon to be!) Build - Humble, Texas

Agreed!! Pic of the year!!! I really wish we could have built a pool when our now teenage boys were young! They would have been so excited for front row seats for tractors in the yard!

Thank you! To say the little ones are excited would be the biggest understatement! Kept them home all day and they have been mesmerized.

The guys are still here working. As soon as they finished digging the rebar crew arrived. Once they finish for night I'll take more progress pics - I can't imagine they will finish the rebar tonight but they are making great progress! The PM warned me the next 3 days would be lightning fast then it will slow way down.

Nina do me a favor. Find your tape measure and when they leave to out and measure it all. Add about 6 inches for the gunite. It is long, wide, deep, etc enough? NOW is the time to fix or change if needed/wanted.

Thank you Kim - will do. When we measured the drawing in the yard it was much larger than the plan but we knew we needed to factor in gunite etc. about to post the "where we stand" pics... And I do have some concerns.

Looks great! I really like your selections, we did travertine decking and split face like you have (different colors) and love it. I'm sure it will look great.

Well I'm not as good at updating as I thought I would be! We dug May 23rd, rebar on the 24th, then gunite on the 25th. We only had to water the gunite for a couple of days before the rain hit. So that's a plus I suppose! Then nothing happened for a week and a half then this Monday they came in guns blazin and finished plumbing, electric, gas line, tile and coping, and equipment is in place. Next step is laying about decking forms and placing the drains. I imagine that might happen sometime next week. But here are some progress pics!

Nice progress considering the rain we have gotten here locally

Ap - I completely agree! I was hoping some work would happen this week but I wasn't expecting it considering this time last week the pool was actually over flowing with rain water. PB said we could only drain it a foot or two because the water table was too high. But apparently it dried up enough to be able to drain it for the tile guys to come. Hopefully the weather keeps holding out! Hopefully we'll be like you in a couple of weeks!

We will do our first swim Sunday afternoon! You are right around the corner from being done, I was all smiles after decking was done, I was fed up with all the mud in the back yard, and finally clean crew came ... Can definitely see the light at the end of he tunnel when that happens lol.

Great looking pool. With the proper chlorine balance your pool will not smell of it. Public pools and folks that don't balance their water properly are the ones that smell of chlorine.

i'm in Fall Creek, what part of Humble are you guys in? Have fun!

Hey neighbor! We are also in Fall Creek! I plan to order my test kit this week or next. I'm not sure what kit the PB will provide, but I will ask. We don't have water yet but I feel like I've already learned so much. My sister built a pool last year - she's out in Katy - and she has the ozone system and rainbow chlorinator. Several weeks ago she started complaining about not being able to control algae and how she was dumping tons of chlorine in everyday and it wasn't doing anything. I asked her if she had checked her CYA and she responded that she has her water tested weekly professionally and everything was fine. Fast forward two weeks and she tells me "oh I asked my pool expert friend and he thinks my cyanic acid is too high - so I'll talk to my PB about how to drain it"..... I had no comment....
