Question on adding salt.

Is the only benefit of adding salt to a pool without a SWG to make the water softer? Other question do you have to use a different test kit if salt is present in the pool? How much do you add in a pool 25k without a SWG?

Welcome to the Forum,

Salt makes the water "feel softer" but it doesn't actually soften it by doing anything to the hardness. Same kit, and our Pool Math calculator at the top of the page will tell you how much to add. Shoot for about 3500-4000 PPM to get the same effect for feel in a SWG pool.

I'd suggest trying the salt level at around 2000 before going all the way to 3500. You will be adding salt as you chlorinate with other methods other than using a SWG.

I've found my salt pool much easier on my eyes than non-salt pools.
