I just bought a house with a pool in January. It took 7 days with an FC level of 28 to clear up my pea soup green pool! But it is now clear thanks to all the fantastic advice on this site. Thank you to everyone and the 15 gallons of bleach! Then I broke my sand filter by jamming my hose into the sand in a futile attempt to deep clean it. After an hour of poking around with the hose, the filter was still churning out dirty water, the sand was still dirty, and the assembly inside was broken. So I bought a new 10 armed octopus for the filter and found50#'s of #20 silica sand at Taylors Do It for 5.99 a bag. Thought that was worth sharing. HTH Pool Filter Sand - Do it Best

Shame you had that trouble, but nice of you to post the deal on sand. Perhaps some others in your area will be able to take advantage of that one as well.
