Yesterday, TA was at 180, with a PH of 7.7. (I have a TF100 test kit). I added half a gallon of MA, and just re-tested - the PH is now sitting at 7.2 but the TA hasn't budged at all - is this normal? Does it just take time for it to come down?

completely normal 
it will take some time for the TA to come down.. you can speed it up by using a waterfall or making a sprinkler or pointing a return up to create ripples in the water to raise the PH faster.. this will allow you to drop the TA faster.
