Use of SWG

Hello all, I have a question on using the SWG to shock the pool. Is it just due to the shorter life of the cell or are there other reasons also. Thanks

The shorter life of the cell is an important factor but, even more important, it does not have the capability to produce enough chlorine fast enough to adequately shock your pool.

I believe it will take quite a bit longer to reach shock level (if it even can), which kind of defeats the purpose of shocking (lots of chlorine right now, as opposed to over hours).

As long as your salt level is fine, it is OK to leave the SWG on.

However, when conducting an "overnight test" to see if the FC is holding, one must shut the SWG off, to ensure the accuracy of the test. Only when the FC is holding are you "done" shocking....(plus cc .5 or less, clear water )
