Plumpbing Stenner Fitting

Whats the best way to plumb the stenner fitting in an existing piece of pvc pipe? Can i drill a hole in the pvc and tap it or is there a better way to do it?

Many if not most tap the PVC and use some teflon tape. Elbows are a prefered location because the wall is a bit thicker.

Does the hole need to be tapped for threads?
