I have a question. Opened up my pool on Sunday and vacuumed to wasted pretty green pool. Started the slam process and thought I would try to vacuum the pool on recirculate although still can see bottom in deep end. I noticed dirty water coming through return jets when I vacuumed in the deep end. Lots of leaves worms ect sucked up in vacuum head. Should I still vacuum to waste? Why is the dirt coming through the return ? Sand is only one year old. Thanks

Recirculate bypasses the filter entirely. Dip out everything you can, then either vac to waste or normal filtering setting.
But if you vacuum to recirculate isn't that going to through all the dead algae into pool?

I was vacuuming on filtered setting then when I hit a big glob of leaves ect that's when I noticed the return water was bad

Not sure I get a you are saying, but like Woodyp said, if you vacuum while recirculating, you are just putting all the gunk back in your pool.
If you are on "filter" setting and getting dirty water through the return jets, you're filter may be clogged. Have you cleaned/backwashed it?
Yes I back washed it and it was fine but then after awhile it began the dirty water thing again when I got to into the thick leaves ect. I think I need to vacuum on waste for awhile

possibly check your spider gasket when you get a moment, someone else just had similar issue and the gasket was bad.
