Should I treat my pool even though I won't open it until middle of May? Water smells foul and is super green with floating algae!

Unless it's and open you have water circulation there is no reasonable way to treat it without possible damage to the liner. Without circulation adding chlorine can bleach the liner in areas where you add the chlorine.
