D.E. and an AGP, where to add it?

I went and got some D.E. this morning and want to add it to my pool. Everyone always says to add it to the skimmer. My sand filter and pump has a basket down at the pump and sand tank. Should I add it to the skimmer up at the top of the pool or would it be better to add it down at the pump basket?

Pre-mix the DE with water and slowly add it to the skimmer. You only want to add enough DE to raise the filter pressure by 1 PSI.
