Am I ready for Borates??

I just got my Amazon shipment of Borax today...and also have my MA ready - both amounts according to PoolMath.

I just tested my water and here are my numbers:

water temp 69
FC 7 (I think this is a little high - still trying to "dial in" the SWG
CC 0
pH 7.6
TA 60
CH 130
CYA 40 (I hate this test. Seriously. I *think* I finally have the hang of it after several months!)

I've used Borax in our Spa at 40ppm and I love it. It makes such a huge difference in being able to keep the pH stable.

So my question for the pool - based on the above numbers, do you think I'm ready to begin?

Your TA is a little low per the recommendations on this thread So you want to add borates to your pool--Why and How . For you SWG they should be between 70-80. All else looks good.

I would leave the TA at 60. I say go! I like my borates too. Pool and hot tub. Good stuff!

I agree, your TA at 60ppm is likely fine. Much easier to raise the TA than it is to lower it.

Thank you Jason - that was my hope. My pool seems to "like" TA at 60.

I got the MA and Borax all brushed in. Should I go ahead and test the pH now - or wait 48 hours like testing the Borate level?

Wow! Less than 24 hours later - and my pool is SPARKLY! I loved it before - but WOW!
