Just a quick note if you decide to repair a skimmer crack.
I recently bought this stuff to repair a hot tub PVC piece, but didn't end up needing it (it was the light lens that cracked).
So, I haven't used this product, but had read good things about plastic repair with it from plumber types...hers a link if you want to read up on it. Amazon.com: Plast-aid 80400 Plastic Pool Part Repair Kit, 6-Ounce: Patio, Lawn Garden
It might be a good application for hard skimmer plastic, but to be clear, I'm just throwing it out as an idea and ave no direct experience using it
Late followup - the leak was in the main drain line near the pump. We got close to the leak but we couldn't quite reach to repair. Under a small patio on side of house. Plugged the drain and closed valve at pump. No more leak.
