Entertaining critter skimmer escape ramp

The Critter Skimmer is an entertaining new product. It is a skimmer cover with a built-in spiral ramp to allow small animals to climb out of the skimmer.

Unfortunately, while a neat idea, my guess is that more critters would crawl IN to this thing than out of it.

While it probably does work for frogs, I don't think it would work for mice. They tend to swim valiantly is small circles until they are exhausted and drown--THEN they end up in the skimmer. I have rescued a few mice in the swimming stage in 40 years of pool care; I have never found a live one in the skimmer that I can recall.

Funny... not a bad idea.. I seem to have a new dead baby mouse in my skimmer every week. Putting white electrical tape over my the hole on my skimmer cover seems to help though.

They'd probably hop out of the skimmer and right back into the pool.
