Newbie needs help with valves

Just bought a house with a pool and spa, and i have a few questions.

What are the pipes with the arrows (no label) for? Suction for the drains?
The filter runs at 20-30 psi. I cleaned the filters, and it is still at that psi, is this ok?
How would I backwash?

I suspect that the labels fell off of the pipes that don't have labels. You are going to need to figure out what each one does by experimenting.

It sounds like you have a cartridge filter. You don't backwash a cartridge filter. They get cleaned by hosing them off with a garden hose.
